International civic conference in Hungary on the Peace in Ukraine
Sunday 21st September 2014 an International Civic Conference on the Peace in Ukraine has taken place in Budapest with the participation of 21 national and transborder hungarian organisations from Sub-Carpathian Region of Ukraine, Transsylvania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovakia. „The real cause of the bloody civil war in Ukraine lays in the fact, that the government of Kiev is implementing an oppression policy against the peoples, nationalities, national minorities, amongst them the russians constituting Ukraine, and NATO is supporting this policy, because it wants to take possession of Ukraine, but Russia does not let it – communique issued from the event is writing. The representative of the Hungarian-Rus Peace Movement of the Sub-Carpathian Region, Nandor Dupka has told, that Kiev wants a State of Nation in Ukraine, and for this reason he is conducing a violent policy of assimilation. „That is a fascist-style policy which was part the suspension of the law allowing the free use of minorities mother languages, the closure of schools teaching in mother tongues in the settlements where minority does not reach 50 pc of the population, the ban of the Rights of Autonomy for Hungarians and for the other minorities, and the use of weapons against those, who do not want to live in such a fascist State – he told. The president of the World Association of Hungarians, Miklos Patrubany has called EU and NATO to abandon the double standard policy recognising the independence of Kossovo and denying the same to Donbass. „NATO has bombed Belgrade, Russia does not bomb Kiev” – he told. The principle of Self-Determination has to be respected also in the case, when peoples it regards do not want to live with – Patrubany has added. Endre Simó, the founder of the Hungarian Social Forum has presented the opinion of the Hungarian Peace Community about the peaceful political solution of the Ukranian war. Kiev must implement the agreement signed on 21st February between the ukranian political sides. Starting from this Ukraine should be transformed in a Federation, which new constitution should grant the Equal Rights, Freedom and the Autonomy of the peoples living in Ukraine, including the acknowledgement of the Right of Separation, that is the recognition of the Self-Determination of the peoples – he told. The participants of the Peace Conference have saluted the initiative for Peace of some scandinavian and central european organisations of the European Social Forum and of swedish and finnish personalities, in Solidarity with the Donbass people. The Budapest meeting has considered itself as an example how the civic Society could reach an all european initiative for Peace with the common interest of people of different ideological orientations.
