A civic diplomacy note of protest against secret talks between Hungary and US about the deployment in Hungary of heavy US military equipment and a battalion of US troops has been handed over to the hungarian defence minister, Csaba Hende on Wednesday by the Hungarian Peace Community.

In their hard tone note the 18 social and political organisations have questioned the Minister Whom did he talk with about the allocation in Hungary of heavy weapons and what did he tell his nagotiating party. Who did authorise him to these talks? What kind of instructions was he given to present the position of Hungary on the matter at the next meeting of NATO defence ministers to be held this month in Brussels. Did the hungarian government take in consideration the consequences of such a step, namely the fact that by the deployment of foreign troops Hungary could turn a military springboard against Russia and consequently a military target? They have called Hende’s attention to the immediate reaction of the possible military retaliation by Russia in case american plan became reality.

„Where do you take the courage from to deliver our people to the interest of expansion to East of the trans-oceanic power? Who did authorise you to make concessions to those, who would be ready to shed the blod of the hungarian people for their goals of conquest?” – note is questioning.

The Peace Community of Hungary invite the Defence Minister and the hungarian government to finish with the secret talks with Washington and to reject the american plan arguing with the Security, the Opening to East policy and the national interest for Peace of Hungary.+++
