International Civic Peace Conference in Hungary
With the participation of national and trans-border hungarian civic organisations an international civic Peace Conference will take place in Budapest on Sunday 21st September for the Peace in Ukraine and Europe. The meeting is organised by the Hungarian Peace Community (Békekör), and all hungarian trans-border minorities representatives will join it. The conference titled „Hungarians together for Peace” will see delegates from Sub-Carpathian Region of Ukraine, from Transsylvania (Romania), Voivodina (Serbia), from Croatia and Slovakia. Particularly important is the presence of hungarian minority representatives from Ukraine, because hundreds of hungarians have been sent to the Eastern front, many of them got home in coffins. „Let us demonstrate that we are united in wanting the Peace” – writes the Appeal of the Sunday Peace meeting. At the opinion of the Peace Community behind the Civil War in Ukraine has to be seen the expansion policy of NATO toward East, opposed by Russia. The Peace Appeal condemns the Kiev government for fighting against his own people, and the NATO for helping Kiev in this. Appeal claims for equal rights and autonomy of the nationalities and national minorities forming Ukraine, in conformity with the agreement signed by all ukranian sides on 21st February. „Kiev must finish with his adventurer policy, puting in risk the Peace in Europe. We demand from the hungarian government not to succumb to the Western policy of sanctions hurting our national interests. Hungary must refuse the presence of fireign NATO troops in his territory. Hungary must not assure hinterland to NATO expansion to East. Hungary must live in Peace and good relationship with both East and West” – Peace Appeal is writing. The conference is open to the Press. Address of the meeting: Budapest V. Semmelweis u. 1-3. Time: Sunday, 21st Sept. 11 o’clock. You are welcome!
