As organizer of the Group for Peace of civilians and political forces issued from the1st June Budapest Conference for Peace, the Hungarian Social Forum-Social Roundtable has urged the hungarian government of Viktor Orban to withdraw his agreement to put in action EU and NATO sanctions against Russia. This step could unable Russia to suspend his counter-sanctions against Hungary and allow to follow and increase the export of hungarian food products to Russia – is written in a letter of HSF-SR sent to the hungarian Foreign Minister Tibor Navracsics on Friday. „If the hungarian government really wants Peace without conditions in Ukraine – as your Ministry has written us on 5th August – we do not understand, why you have approved the EU sanctions. At the same time you speak of ’Opening to East’ policy, you act against it. Words and acts of your government are not in harmony, and citizens must suffer its consequences on their lives. We call your government to follow unequivocal peaceful policy, without any concessions to Western groups of interest wanting to extend the sphere of competence of NATO to Ukraine and blow up a conflict in our area at whataver cost, leaving out of consideration the interests of Hungary and of the other States of Eastern Europe to peaceful living together. Government has to avoid that Hungary remains between two fires” – HSF letter writes.
